  • @doogsm6013
    @doogsm6013 5 годин тому

    I was given one of these to repair as it would transmit immediately on start-up without key-up. I ended up owning it as the original owner received a full refund from Wish after some haggling and he uploaded a video of my initial testing. Finally got around to repairing it and it turned out to be a solder ball 9one of several )shorting the PTT connections. It tested out at similar results to yours regarding transmit power. I never tested for S.E, as my Anritsu boat anchor of a Spectrum Analyser decided to check out of this cruel world but hopefully mine is the same as yours. All in all it's not a terrible HT and comparable to a UV-5R.

  • @tovah2276
    @tovah2276 День тому

    A couple things I wanted to point out from a boots on the ground Nurse Practitioner…..no matter the brand or where it was made, almost everything is the same. Insofar as the staying covert and no noise is good noise, the metal zippers. Everything with a YKK is the “standard” when it comes to quality especially with weather being a factor. YKK is a zipper that will not fail you in hot/cold/wet/dry so that would be a preference worth paying for. If I am choosing a bag and one has metal zippers (noise) and another does not, with both being equal for quality then of course I will choose the non metal pull tabs. If there is not a choice or it is made up of both like the AliExpr, then I would just grab a handful of Zipper “condoms”. They can be found on line as well as any climbing gear store and they quite literally go over top of the metal part of the pull tab (hence the term zipper “condom”) and no more potential “ting/ting” of zippers hitting each other or something in your bag. If you can not find those then just use some electrical tape or Shrink tubing and put it on the metal zipper pull tab and blast it with a heat gun. Done. As a matter of fact I would do that on ANY of the pieces of Para cord that were used on some of the zippers instead of the metal pull tab. They were just pulled through and knotted. Those will come undone in no time so may as well prob your bag properly rather than be in the field without the gear to FIX it. Prep, not fix. Think ahead vs having that “OSH” moment. And same with some of the areas of Velcro and molle that were not double stitched. Double stitch it when you get it. Prep it before you load it up vs loading it and then seeing the fallible areas that need to be done before going into the field. Kinda like my Daddy used to say “Measure twice, cut once”…..different vocation but y’all get the gist. All in all, I would have no problem using the $47 dollar version WITH the pouches but I will use them. The way I was taught and have taught my people is that Red is for blood, Blue is for air and Yellow is for infections….so to break that down….the Red handled pouch would have anything that has to do with a bleed of any kind…so..bandages, 2x2‘’S and more, gauze, tape, gloves, suture kit, Iso Propyl, Betadine etc. and the Blue handled pouch would hold gear for a sucking chest wound, a collapsed lung, intubation tubing, gloves, tape and a CPR mouth barrier etc. again, you get the gist. The Yellow for infection would contain supplies such as antibiotics, Iso, betadine, gauze sterile saline, IV equip including bores and syringes. Some things are doubled up if they do not weigh a ton and the room is available because it is just as easy to double up on the light stuff as it is to have someone grab your pack and just tell them to hand you the blue pouch or the red pouch than to just grab all your pouches or one or two things for the blue pouch and a couple of other things from the red pouch etc etc. My pack would have all the gear I need for a worst case scenario with the hopes and prayers that I never NEED more than a bandaid and tweezers for a splinter, THAT is always the hope and prayer. AND ANY space not NEEDED for a worst case scenario I use for one change of clothes which include water shoes in case I need to cross a body of water as boots take forever to dry and NO ONE wants to carry wet boots, MRE’s (I’d rather eat dirt so I grab protein bars), a small emerg self sufficient kit (JUST IN CASE I am separated from my …… people) such as water proof matches, wax dipped cotton balls, a mirror, compass, map and of course a radio along with additional magazines & ammo but again, weight is the biggest issue for me, I am NOT a big person. I’m only 5’3” & 135. The weight of my pack is a big deal to me so the padding in between my body and the pack matters. It MUST be padded properly and that is where I find most packs regardless of the make or price, the most fallible in that they are NEVER padded, cut or shaped and made properly for my size or being female….female ESPECIALLY in WHERE the chest straps are placed. I have YET to have a pack that I have not HAD to alter for myself. Again, price is not the issue, it could be the best of the best but these manufacturers do NOT think about women in the field. Maybe the next draft which will include women will make these people THINK because guess what……women have more say in what equipment is purchased than men do. Happy & comfortable nurse packing around all the gear that can/will save your life makes for a good day for ALL. Just a few thoughts from the way I was taught and my own personal experience which I hope gives someone some ideas on how they can make their pack suit their needs and everyone does things differently depending on where and how they were trained as well as how they will utilize their pack and for what kind of gear. I KNOW I am forgetting a ton of things but hopefully something will help someone. All that matters is that you are prepared for the worst and hope you never need to use it. Be safe and come home in one piece. ♥🙏🏻

Its not that hard but any way up,it makes perfect sense to make sure you know exactly what you are doing, as this mod is well....SMALL to say the least. But once done it worked perfectly. Over here in the UK, we do not have such family frequencies and such, but we do have PMR frequencies and that what I done it for. BUT if you are not sure, then DO NOT do it. Ask a fellow radio ham. One thing I noticed about this medic bag was space. The Ali Express bag is better as you get those three internal bags. Also if you put them side by side on the top you get space below which is a nice cavity for other things. SWR meter in those bags for checking but space for holding other things (external batteries for example). Although I would have wanted some padding on the belt clip so that it may not cut into you when walking. Like the idea of paracord for the zips and heat shrink to keep it tight. That is where the other one is a plus. But for cheap backpack that is modular and is batter than a standard bag, the Ali Express wins by a fair bit. Double stitching is always good. For the internal pocket things, single is okay. But it is a given the Ali Express one is the better for price, amenities of storage and how well it can be used. Lets hope the price does not go up after this video as some sites like to do.

    I have a Shari PiHat-4U that I tested on the 55553 Parrot, and it works. What are some popular and active AllStarLink node numbers and AllStarLink hub numbers that I can try connecting?

      Hey There, great question. HR2.0's node seems to get a lot of traffic (Not always a lot of talkers) - stats.allstarlink.org/stats/43136 Also, check out the East Coast Reflector - stats.allstarlink.org/stats/27339 stats.allstarlink.org/stats/keyed will show you a list of currently keyed nodes with a list of connected nodes to each of those keyed nodes. Good lucK!

    I get a error message saying that this is a radio independant file and cannot be uploaded to my Baofeng UV 5r. Not sure how to fix ths.

      Maybe this helps: "Getting The Data Back Into A Radio CSV files are generic, radio-independent text files. This means that you cannot upload them directly into a radio. In order to get the information into your device, you must copy memories into an image for that device: Open your CSV file using File > Open and choosing your file. Open a .img file of your radio, or download one from it using Radio > Download From Radio. Make sure that the resulting tab at the top says something like "Yaesu FT-7800" or "Icom IC-880" to indicate that you're operating on a radio-specific driver. Select the tab containing your CSV file at the top, and select memories from the CSV file you want to copy over. You can select multiple rows by holding the Shift or Control keys while making your selections. After selecting one or more memories, copy them to the clipboard by going to Edit > Copy. Next, select the tab corresponding to your actual radio at the top Select a spot in the radio's memory to paste the new memories and then go to Edit > Paste. If you have a clone-mode radio, upload the changes back to your device using Radio > Upload To Radio. If you are using a live-mode radio, wait until all of the changes finish synchronizing back to the device by watching the status bar in the lower right"

    Great video man, thanks. If the radio is decoding CW, can I also send CW without changing any settings?? Also If I am sending CW will the radio actually show me what I am sending? last question , can I put the radio into say BK IN off mode so I can practice sending CW without actually transmitting? Thank you so much for all your videos sir, NS9T 73... and POTA ON!

    Sending old QSL cards to the current call sign holder is one of the cooler things I’ve seen folks in the community do. Awesome! I’m taking a break studying for the Technician test I’ll be taking tomorrow. Wish me luck!

    That one bag in the thumbnail looks like one of the range bags on the market. Radios (or other 'range accessories ') line up nicely across the Padded bottom section.

      It is definitely a range bag (I love it for that). I have seen it sold under multiple names with different designs: The One I have - www.tidewe.com/products/tidewe-range-backpack-bag-carrier-range-pack?currency=USD&variant=37639141982367&Google%20Shopping&stkn=11e9cc7b2bf9&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=20942072074&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw4f6zBhBVEiwATEHFVp3pE25XgAtka7lTbAuhHXt_4DCVt1CnFg_Yb-Z9pGVECBT1CXPtpxoCGp4QAvD_BwE I also saw it the other day at my local Pew Pew Store, under a different name (and slightly different design). Great bags! Fits an Icom IC705 well :)

    I have that backpack from the 4:20 mark in the video in both foliage green and coyote brown. Bought the foliage green one at the PX at Camp Shelby, MS in 2009 - took it on a Caribbean vacation and on an Afghanistan "vacation." That pack held up remarkably well through many travels, and is still fully functional today. I use a toiletries bag to store my antennas, coax, spare connectors/adapters, etc., and the infamous "Bovke" case for my Xiegu X6100, both fit in the large back pocket. The middle pocket carries my two Talentcell brick battery packs, and the associated wall warts. The front top pocket carries a mini logbook and pens, and the front bottom pocket carries a bag with stakes and a very short hammer. I carry my DX Commander pole in hand, there is just no bag that will carry it. I love using the Rybakov antenna as it gives me access to every HF band and 6 meters in a vertical configuration that is so easy to setup and take down. Great video, brother. I enjoyed it! Never overlook cheap thrift store items, you will always find something useful in there at a bargain! -K5SFC

      Being resourceful is a great skill to have learned. Thanks for watching and the great input. If you feel comfortable, what year did you go on vacation? 09 here. Learning how to be resourceful with what was around you, was important. You take care, Brother.

    My GMRS TD-H3, two pack, came with two AirBand TD 771 antenna. Nope, I have not used them for listening to aviation traffic. TD-H3 can boot to GMRS, HAM, and Normal mode. The question is why do they sell both a GMRS and HAM version? Maybe, is it an FCC thing. Their GMRS and HAM manuals have very slight minor differences. Be aware booting to another mode does a factory rest on the radio wiping out previous radio settings. Having Odmaster on your phone provides a backup of both the GMRS and HAM setting. Then after switching modes, you can readily write those setting back to the radio, just takes a minute. Doing that means we carry one radio not two. Another extremely useful feature is cloning one TD-H3 to another. Setup one TD H3 radio, then clone to another TD-H3.
